Today's Food for Thought (September 12, 2017)

Only the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong. - Leo Buscaglia

Be gentle – nothing is won by force. No matter the provocation, choose to be careful and tactful and gentle-hearted. For when you choose to be calm and peaceful, that creates a soothing effect to those who are beside themselves in a heated situation. When you turn inward to create a caring space within you that is free of judgment, your heart opens to receive more of the light of compassion and grace and understanding – all natural prerequisites for your presence to God in prayer.

Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love. Our prayers should be for blessings in general, for God knows best what is good for us. Never forget the three powerful resources you always have available to you: love, prayer, and forgiveness. I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. Learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself, and know that everything in life has purpose. Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life's deepest joy: true fulfillment. Stay safe and be prayerful, my friend.
