DAILY GOSPEL AND PRAYER REFLECTIONS (November 7, 2017)

November 7, 2017 – TUESDAY, 31st Week in Ordinary Time

Green

Rom 12: 5 - 16ab / Lk 14: 15- 24

FROM THE FIRST READING: Rom 12: 9- 16ab
Let love be sincere. Hate what is evil and hold to whatever is good. Love one another and be considerate. Outdo one another in mutual respect. Be zealous in fulfilling your duties. Be fervent in the Spirit and serve God.

Have hope and be cheerful. Be patient in trials and pray constantly. Share with other Christians in need. With those passing by, be ready to receive them.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not wish evil on anyone. Rejoice with those who are joyful and weep with those who weep. Live in peace with one another.

GOSPEL READING: Lk 14: 15- 24
Upon hearing these words, one of those at the table said to Jesus, "Happy are those who eat at the banquet in the kingdom of God!" Jesus replied, "A man once gave a feast and invited many guests. When it was time for the feast he sent his servant to tell those he had invited to come, for everything was ready. But all alike began to make excuses. The first said, 'Please excuse me. I must go and see the piece of land I just bought.' Another said, 'I am sorry but I am now on my way to try out the five yoke of oxen I have just bought.' Still another said, 'How can I come when I have just married?'

"The servant returned alone and reported this to his master. Upon hearing the account, the master of the house flew into a rage and ordered his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.'

"The servant reported after a while: 'Sir, your orders have been carried out, but there is still room.' The master said, 'Go out to the highways and country lanes and force people to come in, to make sure my house is full. I tell you, none of those invited will have a morsel of my feast."'

REFLECTION
In the first reading Paul reiterates Our Lord's teachings about love of neighbor: "Let love be sincere. Hate what is evil and hold to whatever is good. Love one another and be considerate. Outdo one another in mutual respect." "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not wish evil on anyone. Rejoice with those who are joyful and weep with those who weep. Live in peace with one another."

Life is indeed about loving God and loving neighbor. And "if you say, 'I love God,' while you hate your brother or sister, you are a liar. How can you love God whom you do not see, if you do not love your brother whom you see?" (1 Jn 4: 20)

In the Gospel reading Jesus tells us that the heavenly banquet is prepared for all.

Pray your way to peace

As Christians, we claim that in Jesus Christ we have found peace. And yet, despite our faith, we live in turmoil, anxiety, and the inner struggle for self esteem and acceptance. When we don't like the way others treat us, we go to battle. We don't know how to live in peace.

This happens because we get so busy taking care of the business and busyness of our lives that we miss the party that Jesus is hosting. Today's Gospel reading teaches us that we only find true happiness when we accept the Lord's invitation to dine with him -- i.e., when we take time to enjoy his company and let him nourish us. Mass is an example of this type of banquet, but the invitation is for every day, all day.

We cannot taste a morsel of God's goodness while we're too busy or too distracted to stop, sit down, chat and dine with him. We need time alone with God, and our private parties with him should include all four stages if we're to experience a life of peace.

1. Stop. Make the time to accept Christ's invitation to dine with him (the time for it won't exist unless you make the time).

2. Sit down. Put aside all distractions, all the excuses and reasons for doing something else with this time. Focus on God and your relationship with him. Otherwise, even if you're sitting in a pew during Mass, you won't be sitting with Jesus.

3. Chat. Tell Jesus that you love him. Thank him for being so good to you. Unload upon him the burdens of your concerns, worries, inner struggles, etc., but don't forget to talk about the good stuff, too. After all, how do you feel when a friend only talks about troubles and complaints? Be a friend to Jesus by chatting with him about your joys and blessings and the thoughts that are uplifting to hear.

4. Dine. Allow Jesus to nourish you. Meditate on a scripture or discuss what you recently read in a book that is helping you to grow spiritually. Let him feed your dreams and hopes and desires as well as your hunger for love and acceptance.

If you do this daily, the burdens will become lighter and the worries less fearsome. Your self esteem will grow as you experience God's acceptance of you and his appreciation for you. You'll become more aware of the gifts that he's given you and you'll become inspired by the Holy Spirit to use those gifts. You'll identify the purpose -- the importance -- of your everyday life.

In other words, you'll find peace!

EAT BULAGA LAUNCHES FIRST EVER ALDUB TELE-MOVIE

Tom Nansbury says: An optimist laughs to forget; a pessimist forgets to laugh.
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THOUGHT: When tasks seem too dull to endure, figure out a way to make them fun. Keep your good feelings going and entertain yourself. Laugh. For once you find laughter, you can survive. Laugh to unfreeze pride and unwind secrecy. Laugh to create a joyful sense of blessings and serenity and contentment. Laugh till you become silent and tears come out of your eyes – they nourish your soul. For laughter is God's gift and promise that He will never let you sink under your circumstances. He is an eternally happy God and to laugh with Him is to laugh from the heart – a part of you that is capable of healing, a part that allows you to bear pain.

Good humor is a tonic for mind and body. It is the best antidote for anxiety and depression. It is a business asset. It attracts and keeps friends. It lightens human burdens. It is the direct route to serenity and contentment. Laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death. A day without laughter is a day wasted. Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face. We need more love in the world. We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter.

BILLBOARD HOT 100 TOP 20 COUNTDOWN for the Week of October 21, 2017

TODAY'S FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

The most important thing is to enjoy your life. To be HAPPY. It's all that matters. - Audrey Hepburn
Your life is an occasion. Rise to it. Keep your sense of humor, keep your interest in things, keep your vitality intact. Be happy anywhere you go. For when your mind is happy, you see truth wherever you look. Truth is all there is. It’s like when you’ve learned how to read – you can then read anywhere you go. You find God anywhere you go. To not miss out on happiness is to not not miss out on Him. Have a happy journey.

The art of being happy lies in the power of finding happiness in ordinary things. Life doesn't force us to be the best, it only asks that we try our best. The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved, loved for ourselves, or rather loved in spite of ourselves. The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect."Let my soul smile through my heart and my heart smile through my eyes, that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts." Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.

GMA NETWORK FIRST PH TV NETWORK TO OFFER CLOSED CAPTIONING

GMA Network is the first Philippine TV network in the country to officially roll out its closed captioning on some of its programs broadcast on GMA Network and GMA News TV.

This is in compliance to Republic Act 10905 which requires "all franchise holders or operators of television stations to broadcast or present their programs with closed caption option..."

The network tried a test broadcast with closed captioning feature on Septembber 28 for the movie "Mission Impossible," which aired during the program Kapuso Movie Festival block.

With closed captioning, viewers will now be able to see the text description of the movie or program's dialogue and other key non-speech elements (such as music, effects, etc) at the bottom of the screens. The said feature also aims to become beneficial to those who are deaf or who have difficulty in their hearing.

The closed captioning feature is set to roll out on GMA Network and GMA News TV this month.

Until my next blog post,

Today's Food for Thought (October 11, 2017) and Billboard Philippines Top 20 Countdown for October 9, 2017

Woodrow Wilson says: The man who is swimming against the stream knows the strength of it.
What you experience empowers you. And true power takes place when as you face adversities and oppositions, you are able to hold on determined to make it through. When as you go 'beyond your depth', you are able to swim against the current and make it upstream. Swim with God. For no matter if you keep your head above water, in time you will tire. In the deep end, when you feel the waters overcoming you, that is where He wants you to want Him; where He wants you to know He is your buoyancy in your swim. Rough waters and all, He'll carry you through the shore safe and dry.

Experience is the thing that puts the muscle and the breath and the warm blood into any activities you want to accomplish. Life is a constant struggle. Without struggling, man cannot succeed. Life is made of small jumps over great obstacles. It's in the courage of getting through them that makes life challenging and exciting. Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory. It's lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, It's important for you to understand that your experience facing and overcoming adversity is actually one of your biggest advantages. My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world.

Today's Food for Thought (October 10, 2017)

The first step towards getting somewhere  is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are. - Chauncey Depew
Fear not when a situation arises that indicates a change. This has to happen in order for something new and wonderful to emerge. Drop the part that cries out in resistance to make space for yet-to-come surprises. See where change wants to take you, it's beautiful beyond belief. Discomfort may get in the way, but there is growth in the process. Trust the process and feel the connectedness of all that is. Trust that God has planned the changes in your life with infinite wisdom. All He intends is for you to become the person it takes to accomplish His plans in you. Walk with Him – He knows the way through.

"May love not fear be the engine of change." Fear not for I am with you, says the Lord. The heart that has a firm faith is not frightened by obstacles because it knows well that God's love does not abandon those who trust in Him. Life continues whatever happens. All we need is to be positive and be brave with all the challenges we encounter. Faith in God is still the best armor. There is always something good that comes out in every life, experience. Good things become good memories, while bad times become good lessons. Life is good when we walk with the Lord. Always put your trust in Him. Have a nice day, everyone.

Today's Food for Thought (October 9, 2017)

The difference between hope and despair is a different way of telling stories from the same facts. - Alain de Botton
Life is a series of challenges – when body and mind are stretched to their limits to overcome. Despair not. For it is during moments of wiggling in the dark that you most learn about yourself. That you most value the light. Confront challenges with hope and embrace them in complete gratitude. No matter the situation, discontent is never justified. All is opportunity and privilege to venture and grow. God uses your struggles to reveal His great sufficiency. Only when you pass hardship, will He give you something wonderful. Only when you endure difficulty, will He give you something amazing. So let Him work through you and trust that even when all doors remain closed, He will open up new ones only for you.

Life has a series of new beginnings, of falling down and getting up again. When we fail, we think of giving up, but God uses our failures to make us wiser. Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory. Happiness doesn't depend on any external conditions, it is governed by our mental attitude. Develop an attitude of gratitude and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood. No room for regrets, only HOPE for what is to come. Choose to be happy. Find joy in the simplest thing and see beauty in each person you meet. Remind yourself that no pain comes to us without purpose.

Today's Food for Thought (October 8, 2017)

If God doesn't give you what you want, it isn't what you need.
Have faith that understands why some of the things you want are not meant for you to have. Why some doors you want badly to enter remain closed and no matter the pushing and weeping, are not meant to open. Just as valuable as open doors, closed doors are gifts. They teach you and guide you and make you stronger. Trust that God would never withhold anything truly good from you. Trust that when He says 'yes', it is because He loves you and when He says 'no', it is because He loves you. He sees things you do not see and while they do not make sense to you now, one day you will see what He is up to – only the best for you.

Sometimes God gives us orange when we asked for an apple because He knows that the season won't give us the sweetest one. Everything is beautiful in His own time. God is good, for beyond darkness, He gives us light. Beyond our nightmares, He gives us dreams. Beyond our tears, He gives us comfort. God always plan the best things for us. Sometimes we feel being left out, but actually God is saving the better one than what we actually asked for. We just have to be strong to persevere in life. Hold on to God always. Don't run ahead of God. Let Him direct your steps. He has plans and He has time. God's clock is never early or late. It is always strikes on time.

Blessed Sunday, everyone.

Today's Food for Thought (October 7, 2017)

While I dance I cannot judge. I cannot hate. I cannot separate myself from life. I can only be joyful and while. This is why I dance. - Hans Bos
Life is a dance. Dance to uncover the mystery that life's music conceals. Step to the music to help you discover your own unique rhythm. The dance of life can be fast, slow, wild, or peaceful. At times you stumble and fall and miss the beat. But when you know that God is your dancing partner, you will not stop dancing, you will not cease living. He is forever hugging, leading, guiding, and even carrying you. Dance to feel Him in every moment. Every beat with Him, every step with Him.

To dance is to be out of yourself: Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness. Dance, dance, dance. It's a form of exercise, both mind and body. Dance as if nobody is watching. Dance with the rhythm of music.Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. A healthy, happy attitude is contagious but don't wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier. To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

Today's Food for Thought (October 6, 2017)

Each day comes bearing its own gifts. Untie the ribbons. - Ruth Ann Schabacker
The fullness of life comes wrapped in all sacred times – of relationships and goals and experiences that are at times enjoyable, other times difficult. When you fully appreciate that life is a gift, you will not squander a moment of it. When you understand that things do not happen to you but for you and your benefit, you will not miss the chance to return the favor to the Giver. By living consciously and purposefully no matter the roadblocks and miseries, you come in harmony with God – the Giver. And He blesses you with more; gifts of peace, love, abundance, joy, and contentment.

Life is a gift. Let us cherish the moment when we're empty but happy, tired but inspired, down but smiling, feeling lost but living for a cause. God gives us a loving Spirit so we can be a true person, not just gifted with a mind that can understand but with a heart that truly cares. He gave us two gifts: one is a choice, the other, chance. The choice of good life and the chance to make it the best. God is not unjust. He will not forget your good work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. He will always repays caring acts. It may not be with money or goods, but often, He repays with happiness, good health, success and love. Be happy. God is always with us.

Today's Food for Thought (October 5, 2017)

There's not enough room in my mind for both worry and faith. You must decide which one will live there.
Do not allow worry to take over your mind. For whatever is going to happen will happen, whether you worry or not. The journey itself is going to change you, so you don’t have to worry about memorizing the route you took to accomplish that change. For better or for worse, cultivate your own little garden. For better or for worse, play your own little instrument in the orchestra of life. Have faith that assures, insures and endures. Praise more to remind yourself of life's wonder and the ultimate outworking of good. Hold on to the truth that God is always present, even in challenging circumstances. Divine order prevails.

Do you know why God blessed you another morning to wake up? It's to forget the pains of yesterday, and see the change the new day has brought, to dance and laugh again, to make up the wrong things you've done, to see your friends, to love again, to make others feel happy. It's more than just another long day ahead. It's God's way of reminding you that He cares and loves everyone of us. The larger our faith, the lesser our fear; the greater our trust, the smaller our doubt, the stronger our belief, the weaker our worries, and though life is so complicated, it's always beautiful. Walls of worry surround us everyday and we can never run away. But remember, walls only block the sides, never the sky.

Today's Food for Thought (October 4, 2017)

Go for it now. The future is promised to no one. - Wayne Dyer
Get started now, eventually you'll get ahead. Don't wait for some future time to be good to people to find peace for yourself. Forgive now and let go of things that weigh you down in your journey. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. For no one knows what the future holds and the only time you have complete control is right now. As you do now, people, situations, and events will conspire to make things right and better for you. God has given you 'now' that you may do things He has put in your heart to do and complete. Everything He intends for you to do is worth doing and it’s worth doing now.

It's a new day! Speak with kindness, act with humility and let God be ever present in you heart. The best way to start a new day is to clean your heart: no hatred, no fear, no shadow of loneliness. Enjoy your gift of life. Tomorrow is the only day in the year that appeals to a lazy man. When you are successful, always remember that sometime, somehow, someone gave you a lift that started it all, and you are indebted for life till you help other persons the way you were helped. God never promised us an easy journey in life, only safety on board. If God is with you, you can be sure how the journey is going to end.

Today's Food for Thought (October 3, 2017)

With every deed you are sowing a seed, though the harvest you may not see. - Ella Wheeler Wilcox
You reap the results of your actions, to the intentions you bring to every moment you initiate. If you send out goodness or share that which is happy or pleasant within you, it becomes your way and the world responds accordingly. If you do the opposite, the world responds proportionately. God has given you the gift of discernment in the form of your life. That you may learn and relearn; uproot and grow. Be intentional about your own choices to build the legacy you hope to create and make sure they line up with His will. For the value and relevance of your faith in Him is a legacy that's not easily tossed aside.

If you treasure the beauty that shows all around you, and try to add some of your own, enjoy the companionship others can give you. Nothing in this life is ever easy. Sometimes even after doing our very best still we end up pretty short. But always remember "effort only releases its full rewards after one constantly refuses to give up." Never regret the choices you made, just believe in yourself and have faith. Life is not perfect. It's a blend of joy and sorrow. So wherever life leads you, it's because of a purpose. Life holds no promises to what will come our way. It makes no guarantees as what we will have. It just gives us choices and to make chances. Life is good when we walk with the Lord. Always put your trust in Him.

Today's Food for Thought (October 2, 2017)

There is a road from the eye to the HEART that doesn't go through the intellect. - G.K. - Chesterton
It is strange how often a heart must be broken before the years can make it wise. As the thinking instrument of your soul, your heart is made to break – it bursts open again and again so that it can see and hold evermore wonder; so it can seek enlightenment. For it is only when your heart breaks that you open yourself to asking God for help. You seek His help so you grasp the meaning of things revealed to the mind and apply the understanding to your heart. For when He searches you, He looks at the 'eyes of your understanding' – your heart.

Perhaps our eyes need to be washed by our tears once in a while so that we can see life with a clearer view again. Sometimes you have to laugh through the tears, smile through the pain so that you can live through the sorrow. Hear with your heart, see with your soul, be guided by a Hand that you cannot hold. Trust even if you can't see, that's how faith must be. The heart that has a firm faith is not frightened by obstacles because it knows well that God's love does not abandon those who trust in Him.

Today's Food for Thought (October 1, 2017)

Sometimes God tests you over and over because you failed the previous times and He wants you to pass.
God's love is not a love that exempts you from trial, but a love that always sees you through trials. He pushes you to the brink to challenge your faith. He brings you storms to make you bear through more rough weathers ahead. He surrounds you with conflict to make you overcome. When He closes a door, He does not always open a window. Sometimes He wants you to sit in the quiet darkness while He transforms your fear into trust. These tests are unannounced, they just come. He tests you to see if you are actually learning and advancing and growing. He tests you so He can show His capacity to provide and love and bless you.

God is good. For beyond the darkness, He gives you light. Beyond our nightmares, He gives us dreams. Beyond our tears, He gives us comfort. God is truly wise. He made sadness so we would know joy; pain so we could have pleasure; hate so we can love; and morning after night so we can face a new day with hope. When we walk with God daily, we need not be afraid. He is our shield, our protector, our Guide. He is our strength and comfort. God allows life to be rocky, not to let the rocks grind into dust but to polish us to become a brilliant GEM.

Blessed Sunday, everyone!

Today's Food for Thought (September 30, 2017)

There is virtue in work. There is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither. - Alan Cohen
No matter if you're moving fast enough during the week, take a break and slow down for a day. Unwind and wind down. Catch your breath and take a load off. Day and night, morning and evening, light and darkness, are rhythms meant to break time. They are meant to invite you to not only work and produce but to rest and sleep. God loves you enough to make rest a commandment – to keep Sabbath. He calls you to receive this essential gift of rest – it is a holy thing. Remember He didn't do it all in one day. He stopped, took a break, and rested. You'll be doing His work when you do the work that isn't work. When not doing is the way to get things done.

Thank you for the life, and all the little ups and downs that make it worth living.Take life one day at a time. It's not how fast we move nor how long we live. It 's how we cherish every moment of having a beautiful life, not perfect but happy. When you learn to take life as it comes, it usually comes the way you wish it. Life is too precious to be wasted away. Every man has only one life to be enjoyed in a lifetime. The shortest way to do many things is to do only one thing at a time. Run if you like. but try to keep your breath; work like a man, but don't be worked to death. Rest if you have time and enjoy.Men do not break down from overwork, but from worry and dissipation.

Today's Food for Thought (September 29, 2017)

"You are not obligated to win. You are obligated to keep trying to do the best you can every day," - Marian Wright Edelman
The daring-to-try person is a winner. It is impossible to be a total loser if you will only start. That’s because the person who begins has won the battle over inertia. And the real glory in being knocked down to your knees is getting up and coming back. Push through helplessness and push ahead taking each day as a new step. Don't stop trying – miracles come in undefined and unplanned moments. God has got you this far as a promise that He is able to get you beyond. His blessings abound.

To help yourself, you must be yourself. Be the best that you can be. When you make a mistake, learn from it, pick yourself up and move on. The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. Life itself is a challenge that we have to face. You lose some, you win some. But if you never give up, you will discover that sacrifices have the greatest rewards. Remember, life isn't about being fair, it's about surpassing the unfair reality. We can't have all that we desire...But God will give us all that we deserve. Faith in God is still the best armor.

Today's Food for Thought (September 28, 2017)

Great changes may not happen right away but with effort and commitment even the difficult may become easy. - Bill Blackman
Obstacle and difficulty help you find your way forward. No matter their size, hold nothing back. Be willing to make an effort to do and commit to carry out whatever it is you are doing, in spite of any and all reasons to not continue to carry on. Much like breathing, quitting is not an option. Learn to take in even the shallowest of breaths to put forth even the smallest of efforts to sustain your dreams. God sees what you are doing and that's all that should matter to you. He claps and cheers for you everytime you push a little harder, dig a little deeper, reach a little farther, and run a little faster. He is a good paymaster – He pays and rewards abundantly.

Life is made of small jumps over great obstacles. It's in the courage of getting through them that makes life challenging and exciting. If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride---and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high so are the rewards. God loves to help him who strives to help himself. Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory. The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential---these are the keys that will unlock the door to potential excellence. Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

Today's Food for Thought (September 27, 2017)

It is so wonderful to watch an animal because it has no option about itself. It is. - Eckhart Tolle

Take heart if the world makes light of you, disregards, neglects, and overlooks you. Let not other people's opinion and criticism stop you from living. Let not those looking down on you diminish your worth. For only when you stop listening to other people's version of yourself can life become natural and simple. Now look, every day God goes to work. Half the people on this planet wake up refusing to have anything to do with Him. He goes to work anyway. So no matter if the road to chasing your dreams are potholed with 'NO' and 'BOO', just keep going.

Today's Food for Thought (September 26, 2017)

The way to free your feelings is to simply feel them. - Shaeri Richards
Life is an exercise in the development of feelings. Learn to trust and express your feelings and blame no one when some feelings sink so deep that only loneliness can help you find them again. For when you understand that feelings allow you to heal and transform, you will never label them bad, ugly or wrong. God builds feelings in your heart so you can respond rightly to His love as He sets you to feel love to whoever He sends to meet you in your journey. Never apologize for showing feelings, or you apologize for His truth.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' , I think it's important to be honest, to communicate, to respect and trust, and to strive to give more than you take. I believe if you keep your faith, you keep your trust, you keep the right attitude, if you're grateful, you'll see God open up new doors. Free yourself from negative feelings.

Today's Food for Thought (September 25, 2017)

What you are afraid to do is a clear indication of the next thing you need to do. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Sometimes you are not willing to look because you cannot handle what you see. Open your eyes. It is by fearlessly looking at what scares you that you can embrace the landscape of your life and open yourself completely to all the love and compassion that abound. It is by recognizing sorrow and pain that you will understand and appreciate joy and pleasure. Darkness and all, you can still see if you'll only look. It is only fear and inhibition that blind. Let not fear become bigger than God. For a bigger God leaves no room for a heart to fear. To have the most joyful and fulfilling life requires stepping out into the unknown. Step out with Him and He will get it right for you.

Our heavenly Father understands our disappointment, suffering, pain, fear, and doubt. He is always there to encourage our hearts and help us understand that He's sufficient for all of our needs. When I accepted this as an absolute truth in my life, I found that my worrying stopped. With God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope. March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life's path. Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do. "Don't be afraid for I am with you." says the Lord.

Today's Food for Thought (September 24, 2017)

When God measures a man, He puts the tape around the heart. - Howard G. Hendricks
God hears no more than the heart speaks. For it is the heart that recognizes and feels love and has the greatest capacity to experience Him. While you may measure another by outward appearance, God measures you by what's inside your heart. When your heart is hardened or is full of fears and pains and longings and yearnings, He touches and changes it. Then He gives you a new heart, full of faith and courage and spirit. As you begin to have the right heart through Him, you begin to measure the worth of others His way. And He is home within.

God is watching nearby to give us His grace, and send us His love. Whatever our problem, whatever our pain, God is there to support and protect us always. Be thankful for God's trials. They are His gifts to strong people. God hears what is not spoken, and understands what is not explained, for His love doesn't work in the lips nor in the mind but in the heart. When we put our burdens and cares in God's hands, He puts His peace in our hearts. If someday you'll find yourself thirsting for comfort because you are in deep pain and frustration, just remember God can always be your refuge when everyone does not hear your cries.

Blessed Sunday, everyone.

Today's Food for Thought (September 23, 2017)

You only lose what you cling to. - Buddha
To empty the heart does not mean to not love. Love, as God intended it, is purest when it is not based on false attachment. Real love, you will learn, is like building a sand castle. You embellish it with beautiful shells, bits of driftwood, and pieces of colored glass. The castle is yours, off limits to others. Yet despite all your attachment, you know that the tide will inevitably come in and sweep the sand castle away. The trick is to enjoy it fully but without clinging, and when the time comes, let it dissolve back into the sea. Stake not a claim to anything. For nothing is to be clung to. In the end, you will arrive where you started – alone.

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. Caring is a beautiful gift that no one can buy. It is made up of love that roots in our hearts to make fruits of memory for a lifetime. When you are riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake Up and Live! Learn how to cope, sweet friend. There will always be dark days. Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action. Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness. Life is good when we walk with the Lord. Always put your trust in Him.

Today's Food for Thought (September 22, 2017)

In each of us there is another whom we do not know. - Carl Jung
Everyone has a little bit of the sun and moon in him; a little bit of man, woman, and animal in him. None is just black or white, or never wrong and always right. No one. Compassion is the goal of the game. When the soul reaches true compassion, it feels acceptance for both sides, judging neither as inherently good or bad. The soul then sees the value in both the light and dark, and chooses to have both in balanced portions, as part of itself. For God is in the sadness and the laughter, in the bitter and the sweet. There is a divine purpose behind everything — and therefore a divine presence in everything. Duality and opposite serve you in your learning and growth. As a soul, you are all.

Goodness is about character - integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people. Thank you for the life, and all the little ups and downs that make it worth living. Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place. This is the way of peace: Overcome evil with good, falsehood with truth, and hatred with love. Appearance is something absolute, but reality is not that way - everything is interdependent, not absolute. So that view is very helpful to maintain a peace of mind because the main destroyer of a peaceful mind is anger. Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.

Today's Food for Thought (September 21, 2017)

If he works for you, you work for him. - Japanese Proverb
Limit not your purpose to a mere means of satisfying wants and needs. Serve and be relevant. How you do your daily tasks speak volumes about how you intend to follow and obey God. Any and all effort and exertion you put forth from the fullness of your heart is an act of obedience. For service, no matter how lackluster, carries His message of love, whether or not you get credit. Your willingness to serve, whether or not you're in the spotlight is worship. It is when you serve and when you give, that you open yourself to receive life's richest blessings and most enduring lessons. That the more you take the needs of others in your heart, the more you take your own heart to God.

A sense of purpose is the best driving force to live. When you have a reason to live, you will never have a reason to quit. In every action there's a purpose. Start to appreciate the little things in life, we'll find out that we have so much. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling incomplete, longing for something we can't explain and we are caught in the middle going nowhere. Well, that's the beauty of being human. It is knowing that there is purpose for each existence. And whatever that may be, it is the reason why we still wake up breathing each day to discover the missing piece of puzzle that would make our lives complete. In every moment of doubt believe God because in every prayer, there's an answer. Life is good when we walk with the Lord. Always put your trust in Him.

Today's Food for Thought (September 20, 2017)

Don't wait for someone to bring you flowers. Plant your own garden. Decorate your own soil. - Mario Quintana
Love and respect yourself. No one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are completely – the good and the bad, and make changes as you see fit. Take conscious efforts to always find your center in God. Even when life is unclear, even when life is confusing; you will know you’re headed in the right direction when you focus on Him. For your center is where you are rooted in His love – a place where there is no need for striving, impatience and dashing about seeking approval. He is your point of reference – your Center.

No one will improve your lot, if you yourself do not. The way you treat yourself sets the standard for others. How generous of God granting us another time... to prosper, to win a heart, to right a wrong, to make things better and to live life with joy. You may be whatever you resolve to be. Your good heart shall tell you where to go, your sharp mind shall tell you how to get there, and your deep love for God shall guide you on your way. Don't wait for someone to decorate your life. Be guided by a Hand that you can't hold. Trust even if you can't see. It's God's part to do wonders, ours is the simplest part: to trust and pray.

Today's Food for Thought (September 19, 2017)

We must stop regarding unpleasant or unexpected things as interruptions of real life. The truth is interruptions are real life. - C.S. Lewis
Interruptions are inevitable – how life works. They are moments when things don't go your way and your plans fail. A flat tire on your way to an appointment. Getting stuck in traffic and you're to pick up a child who suddenly got sick in school. They are small frustrations and unexpected events that can catch you off-guard. Like nothing else, they are acts of God's grace and they do not catch Him off-guard. They are divinely placed reminders that you don't have your life figured out and you need to always look down to see whether you are standing on rock or sand. They are His way of jarring you out of your narrow focus, reminding you to stretch your faith and look up to Him, to rely on Him. Because your agenda is not His agenda and His plans are better than yours.

Everything that God allows to come our way is with a purpose. He uses even the greatest error and deepest hurt to mold us into a better person. God never gives a burden heavier that we can carry, no matter what. He wants us to be happy than sad. God's plans are better than ours, that's why sometimes He doesn't say "yes" to every word we say. Sometimes He just whispers: "My child, allow me... I have a better way." God is watching nearby to give us His grace, and send us His love. Whatever our problem, whatever our pain, God is there to support and protect us always. Trusting God in everything is the softest pillow on which to rest and the hardest rock to stand on.

Today's Food for Thought (September 18, 2017)

Your best teacher is your last mistake. - Ralph Nader
Mistakes are unavoidable. Be not too afraid of them that they freeze you to do what needs to be done. Own your mistakes and befriend them. Learn and find strength in them. What you consider as mistakes are the inevitable accompaniment of the greatest gift God has given you – your freedom of action. Be glad of the dignity of your privilege to make mistakes, glad of the wisdom that enables you to recognize them. Find beauty and significance in second chances and rebounds. For God does not look upon the mistakes you do. He uses your mistakes to empower and produce growth in you.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently. All the adversity I've had in my life, has strengthened me. You may not realize it when it happens. Strive not just to survive, but struggle to succeed triumphantly. Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you. Life continues whatever happens. All we need is to be positive and be brave with all the challenges we encounter. Faith in God is the best armor.

Today's Food for Thought (September 17, 2017)

Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness. - Martin Luther
Praying itself doesn’t earn you a hearing. You don't pray to twist God's arm so He changes His mind and do something as you ask. You don't pray to negotiate and bargain with Him for He knows already what you need before you even start to say a word. You pray to make your heart strong knowing He dwells inside. You pray to continually work with the reality of your own identity that brings you to a personal awareness of your oneness with Him. As you become aware of Him, you become aware of your true self. You are His beloved child and He is your caring, loving, and infinitely wise Father who knows your needs better than you do. He will only give what is best for you.

God is a listening God. Sometimes you don't need to shout or cry out loud because He hears even the very silent prayer of a sincere heart. God is so nice. The more you need Him, the closer He gets to you. When you forget Him, He follow you. And when you fall, He'll carry you. God never gives a burden heavier than we can carry, no matter what. He wants us to be happy than sad. A heart to heart talk with God will lessen your burden for He will never say NO to those who have faith in Him. Don't pray to be sheltered from problems, but pray to be fearless in facing them. Don't be afraid of pain, but ask for a heart that conquers it.

It's not only the scenery you miss by going fast, you also miss the sense of where you are going and why. - Eddie Cantor

Today's Food for Thought (September 16, 2017)

Urgency is good for getting things done. A healthy dose of it helps you to be productive. But urgency is less suited for reflection and rest. And false urgency blurs your vision from seeing the important things in your life, it keeps you from seeking and hearing God. Slow down. Remind yourself that you are in a relationship with Him. Know His peace. Know His presence. He is always around, quietly waiting for you to still yourself enough to hear what He has to say. Listen. In stillness, you will hear and feel Him.

Sometimes we wish too much that we miss to enjoy who we are, where we are and what we have. Stay happy. The secret to happiness is to embrace and appreciate everything that happens in our lives. God puts us where we grow best and gives us good people to grow with. Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortunes; but great minds rise above them. Listen to your gut, no matter how good something on paper. Men, like nails, lose their usefulness when they lose direction and begin to bend. Whatever is produced in haste goes hastily to waste. What is the use of running when we are not on the right road?

PHTV INSIGHTS: Atom Araullo leaves ABS-CBN, will transfer to GMA Network?

Atom Araullo, one of ABS-CBN's reporters, is officially leaving the network. The said move also prepares for his eventual transfer to GMA Network.

Araullo revealed on the morning show Umaga Kay Ganda last September 15 that he is officially leaving the network.

ABS-CBN has issued the statement that the network had allowed him to explore new interests in film, digital media and broadcast outside of the company.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Araullo expressed that his more than 10 years of stay in ABS-CBN had become an amazing adventure for him. He also said that he is thankful for the opportunity to work as a Kapamilya.

Last year, Araullo allegedly resigned from the reportorial duties but he remained as one of the network's talents.

Meanwhile, Mike Enriquez, alongside Arnold Clavio and Susan Enriquez announced on one of the radio programs of ABS-CBN's archrival radio station DZBB yesterday (September 15), gave the listeners clues that one of the news reporters of the rival station would reportedly move to GMA-7.

The big announcement paved the way for the name "Atom" that became one of the top trending list on Twitter yesterday.

Even celebrities reacted to Araullo's decision to leave ABS-CBN, noted that some netizens speculated that Araullo would move to ABS-CBN's archrival GMA 7.

Any reactions and second thoughts about Araullo's departure from ABS-CBN? Leave us your comments.

Until my next blog post,

Cheers!
